What You'll Need
- Liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Cold water
- A sponge or cloth
- Laundry pre-treatment spray or stain remover (optional)
Instructions
- Start by carefully blotting the stain with a paper towel or cloth. Do not rub stain, as this can make it spread.
- Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl of cold water. Stir until the ingredients are well blended.
- Using a clean cloth or sponge, dab the mixture onto the stained area. Make sure to work the mixture into the fabric and avoid rubbing the stain.
- Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing the cloth or sponge and blotting the area with a dry towel.
- If the stain remains, try using a laundry pre-treatment spray or stain remover. Apply product to the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing and air drying.
Additional Tips
- Always check the care instructions on your dashiki before attempting to clean it.
- Be sure to test any cleaning products on an inconspicuous area of the fabric to ensure that they will not cause any damage.
- Be gentle when handling fabric – too much agitation can cause the stain to spread.
