When it comes to pesky ketchup stains on seersucker fabric, it’s important to act quickly. You can use a damp cloth to blot the stain and prevent it from setting. Make sure not to rub it in any further or you may end up making it worse.

Follow up by rinsing the stained area with cold water. Once you’ve done this, you can start to treat the stain with a stain remover. If you don’t have any on hand, make your own by combining liquid detergent and white vinegar into a paste.

Rub this paste over the stain with an old toothbrush and leave for 10-15 minutes. After this time, rinse the stain with cold water. If the stain persists, you can try soaking the area with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and cool water overnight.

You could also use dishwashing liquid to help lift the stain. Start by pouring a small amount of dishwashing liquid onto the stain and rubbing it in gently. Leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. If the stain still won’t budge, try adding a few drops of ammonia to the dishwashing liquid.

Once you’ve successfully treated the stain, you can either use the washing machine or hand wash it. For machine washing, simply add a mild laundry detergent and let the cycle complete. For handwashing, soak fabric in a basin filled with lukewarm water and a few drops of detergent for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.
