The first step in cleaning ketchup stains is to blot area with a paper towel or clean cloth. Blot stain until it's no longer visible. Then rinse fabric with cold water, being careful not to spread the stain. You may need to repeat this several times in order to remove the stain completely.

Once the stain is completely removed, gently rub a small amount of liquid detergent into the area. Allow the detergent to sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out with lukewarm water. Rinse again with cold water to remove any residual detergent. If necessary, repeat this process until the stain is fully removed.

For tougher stains, try a few drops of white vinegar or lemon juice. Apply the vinegar or lemon juice directly to the stain and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out with cold water. Repeat this process as needed until the stain is gone.

If the stain is still visible after following these steps, you may want to consider washing the garment in your washing machine. Use the hottest water setting available for cotton fabrics and add a color-safe bleach to the load. Be sure to run the garment through another rinse cycle afterwards.

With the right techniques, you can easily remove ketchup stains from cotton poplin. Just remember to act quickly, use a few simple household ingredients, and be gentle with the fabric.
