Ketchup stains on corduroy can be a nuisance. Ketchup has a lot of sugar which, when left on the corduroy for too long, can cause permanent damage. Fortunately, there are several simple steps you can take to quickly alleviate this problem.

Start by blotting away any excess ketchup with a paper towel. Don't rub the stain or attempt to scrape it off. This will only spread the ketchup and make it harder to clean.
Pour club soda over stain and let it soak for a few minutes. Give it time to break down ketchup and begin to loosen it from the fabric.
Once club soda has had a few minutes to work, wash the fabric as usual following the directions on the care label. If the stain is still there after washing, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Let the fabric air dry instead of using a machine dryer. Heat from the dryer can set stain. If the stain is still visible after the fabric has dried, proceed to step 5.
Apply a stain remover to affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, launder again using the instructions in step 3.
