Ketchup stains are no match for Chantilly lace if you take the right steps to clean them. Here's what to do when a ketchup stain arises.

  • Scrape off excess ketchup. When you first notice the stain, try to scrape off as much ketchup as possible using a flat object, such as a spoon or butter knife. Don't rub or push the ketchup further into the fabric.
  • Apply a mild detergent. Take a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, pre-wash spray, or similar detergent and mix it with a cup of cold water. Make sure that the detergent is gentle enough to not damage the fabric. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently blot the mixture onto the affected area.
  • Rinse with cold water. Use a damp cloth to blot the area with cold water until it is free of soap residue. Be sure not to rub the fabric, as this could cause it to fray.
  • Pat the stain with white vinegar. Moisten a cloth with white vinegar and dab the affected area. Allow it to sit for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  • Air dry the lace fabric. Finally, lay lace out flat on an absorbent towel and let it air dry. Do not hang the fabric as this may cause it to stretch or become misshapen.

By following these steps, you can remove ketchup stains from Chantilly lace without damaging the material. For tough stains, repeat the process until the spot has been removed.
