The first thing you want to do when a ketchup stain appears is act fast! As quickly as possible, grab a clean, dry paper towel and blot stain. Blotting helps to absorb any excess ketchup that hasn't yet set into the chambray fabric.
In a small bowl or cup, mix together approximately one teaspoon of laundry detergent with one cup of warm water. Use a spoon to stir the solution until the detergent is fully dissolved.
Using a clean cloth or sponge, dip it in detergent solution and apply it to the stained chambray. Rub the solution into the fabric gently, but firmly. Make sure to cover the entire stained area.
Once you've applied the detergent solution, rinse chambray fabric with cold water. This helps to further remove any excess ketchup and detergent solution from the fabric.
When you're done rinsing the fabric, rinse garment according to the care instructions on the tag. For chambray, this usually means machine washing in cold water. Make sure to air-dry the garment for best results.
If the stain doesn't come out the first time, repeat the process! It may take a couple of tries to get all of the ketchup out. Just make sure to always use cold water and air dry the garment afterwards.
Getting ketchup stains out of chambray can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be! With a few simple steps you can successfully remove ketchup stains from your chambray clothing. Now you can wear your chambray with confidence!
