Start by blotting the stain with a damp cloth or paper towel. Do not rub as this could spread the stain. Gently dab the spot, allowing cloth or paper towel to absorb the ketchup. Do not press too hard or you may damage the fabric.
Once the majority of the ketchup is removed, mix a solution of 1 tablespoon of liquid dish detergent to 1 cup of lukewarm water. Dip a clean cloth in mixture and pat the stain, working from inside out. Rinse the area with a clean, damp cloth. Once the stain is gone, rinse the affected area with cold water. Blot the area dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
If the stain persists, try soaking it in a mixture of equal parts vinegar and cold water for about 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.
