Step 1: Act Fast

Acting quickly is key when dealing with any type of stain, and that holds true for ketchup too. Pretreat the stain by gently blotting it with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of ketchup as possible. Be sure not to rub, as this can work the stain further into the fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent

Mix a drop of detergent with cold water, then use a sponge or cloth to apply it onto the stain. Again, be sure to lightly blot with a dabbing motion rather than rubbing it into fabric. Leave the detergent on for about five minutes, and then re-blot the stain with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinsing the area with cold water helps to break down the ketchup, preventing the stain from setting. Use a cloth or sponge to lightly rinse the affected area. Keep rinsing until no soap remains.

Step 4: Wash & Dry

Once the stain has been pre-treated and rinsed, throw pants in the washer with your regular detergent. It is important to ensure that the ketchup stain is completely gone prior to drying, as heat can set the stain into the fabric. Air-dry the pants and inspect area to make sure the stain is gone before placing them in the dryer.

Say Goodbye to Ketchup Stains!

By following these steps, you should be able to easily remove ketchup stains from your cargo pants. Just be sure to act quickly, pre-treat, and rinse thoroughly. Good luck!
