Removing ketchup stains from cardigans can be a tricky task but with right know-how, you can restore your clothing item and keep it looking as good as new.
What You Will Need
- A soft-bristled brush
- Dish soap or mild laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Clean white cloth
Method 1: Removing Fresh Ketchup Stains
- Using a soft-bristled brush, gently remove as much of the ketchup as possible.
- Mix dish soap or mild laundry detergent with warm water in a bowl soapy mixture, then dip a clean white cloth into the mixture.
- Gently scrub the stain with the damp cloth and the soapy mixture. Take care not to rub the fabric harshly.
- Rinse the stained area with cold water. The fabric should be damp, not completely wet.
- Lay the garment flat on a towel and allow it to dry completely.
Method 2: Removing Older Ketchup Stains
- Mix 1 part white vinegar and 1 part warm water in a bowl, then dip a clean white cloth into the mixture.
- Gently scrub the stain with the damp cloth and the vinegar mixture.
- Apply baking soda directly onto stain and gently rub into the fabric.
- Rinse the stained area with cold water. The fabric should be damp, not completely wet.
- Lay the garment flat on a towel and allow it to dry completely.

- Time is of essence - tackle ketchup stains as soon as possible for better results.
- Be careful not to use hot water, as this could set the stain.
