Ketchup is one of the most common culprits when it comes to staining our favorite fabrics, including calico. The good thing is that tackling these stains head-on is an achievable task.
What You'll Need
- White paper towels
- Liquid dish soap
- Old toothbrush
- Cold water
Method
- Remove excess ketchup from the fabric with a paper towel and try not to spread the stain further.
- Apply liquid dish soap onto the stained area. Gently rub it in with the toothbrush.
- Once the stain has been thoroughly treated, rinse with cold water.
- Repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is gone.
- If there are still remnants of the stain, apply a mild detergent directly onto the area, and rub it in with the brush.
- Rinse again with cold water. If the stain is still present, repeat the process.
- Finally, air-dry the fabric or use a dryer set on low heat.
Tips
- Don’t scrub too hard so as not to damage the fabric.
- It’s important to use cold water during the rinsing process so that the ketchup doesn’t set into the fabric fibers.
- It's best to address the stain as soon as possible as older stains can be more challenging to remove.
- Always test any cleaning products on a small, hidden area of fabric first.
