Things You'll Need
- Cold water
- Liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Soft-bristled scrub brush
- Stain remover (optional, if available)
Cleaning Instructions
- Before attempting to remove the stain, make sure you read and follow the washing instructions specified on the board shorts’ care tag.
- Flush the stained area of the shorts with cold water to help dilute the stain.
- Mix a solution of equal parts liquid laundry detergent and white vinegar. Soak the stained area in the solution for 15-20 minutes.
- Using a soft-bristled brush, gently scrub the area affected by the ketchup. Be sure to work the solution into the fabric without damaging it.
- Rinse the area with cold water to remove the vinegar-detergent mixture.
- If the stain is still visible, use a liquid stain remover (if available). Again, working with a soft-bristled brush, gently scrub at the affected area. Allow the stain remover to sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing.
- Once the stain is removed, wash and dry the board shorts according to the care instructions on care tag.
Tips
- Be sure to test any stain removal product or solution on an inconspicuous area of shorts before applying it directly to the stain. This will help ensure that it won’t cause discoloration or further damage.
- Always read and follow the care instructions on clothing labels to ensure that you don’t damage the fabric.
- For particularly stubborn stains, you may need to repeat the process several times or even take the item to a professional cleaner.
