If you’ve ever made a dish that uses ketchup as an ingredient, you know the mess it can leave behind. From red splotches on baking dishes to thick layers of tomato sauce, ketchup can create a stubborn mess that’s difficult to remove. However, all you need is a few simple supplies to get the job done.
The simplest method to remove ketchup stains is to use soap and water. Start by filling a bowl or sink with hot soapy water. Then, put stained dish in the water and allow it to soak for about 20 minutes. After dish has soaked, use a soft-bristle brush and some elbow grease to scrub off the stains. Rinse the dish with warm water before drying it with a clean cloth.
If stains haven’t budged with soap and water, you can try another method using baking soda and vinegar. Put one tablespoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of white vinegar into a bowl and mix until a paste forms. Spread the paste onto the ketchup stains, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Once the paste has dried, use a dry cloth to rub off the stains. Rinse the dish with warm water and dry it with a clean cloth.
If the stains still remain after using baking soda and vinegar, you can use laundry detergent to remove them. Start by sprinkling some laundry detergent into a bowl of hot water. Then, dip a cloth or sponge into mixture and rub it onto the stains. Let mixture sit for 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Dry the dish with a clean cloth.
