The first step in cleaning your workwear is to pre-treat the stained area with a detergent and water solution. Start by mixing a few drops of liquid detergent into a small bowl of warm water. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to lightly scrub the stained area with the detergent solution. Let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing.
The second step is to hand wash or machine wash workwear. For hand washing, fill a sink or bucket with cool water and a few drops of mild detergent. Soak the clothing in the water for 15 minutes, then scrub gently. Rinse fabric thoroughly and hang to dry. For machine washing, make sure to follow clothing’s care instructions. Use a mild detergent and cold water and hang to dry.
If you still have stubborn stains, you can use OxiClean to remove them. Mix 1 tablespoon of OxiClean powder with 1/2 cup of water. Apply the paste to the stained area, wait 3 minutes, then scrub the paste into fabric. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Hang the fabric to dry.
Hydrogen peroxide can also be used to remove insect repellent stains from workwear. Simply soak the fabric in a solution of three parts hydrogen peroxide to one part water for an hour, then rinse and hang to dry.
To avoid having to clean insect repellent stains in the future, try using spot treatment products such as insect repellent wipes and sprays. They are easy to apply and can provide a protective barrier against insects.
