Step 1: Test Your Watch's Water-Resistance

Before you start cleaning, make sure that the watch is water-resistant. To do this, check the manual or look for a number that's printed on back of the watch. This number indicates the amount of pressure and/or water the watch can withstand.

Step 2: Use Isopropyl Alcohol or White Vinegar

For non-waterproof watches, you can clean the stains with a cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol or white vinegar. Dab the cloth onto the spot and then wipe it off. You may need to repeat process a few times to fully remove the stain.

Step 3: Scrub with Warm Water and Mild Soap

For waterproof watches, you can use a combination of warm water and mild soap. Dip a soft-bristled brush into the mixture and gently scrub affected area. Wipe off the soap with a damp cloth, rinse, and then dry off the watch with a clean, soft cloth.

Step 4: Polish with Jewelry Cleaner

For extra tough stains, you can use a jewelry cleaner. Simply apply a small amount of the cleaning solution to a cotton ball and gently rub it onto the stain. After cleaning, rinse the watch with lukewarm water and wipe off any remaining cleaner with a dry cloth.

Additional Tips

  • Make sure to wear gloves when cleaning watches, as contact with detergents or other liquids may damage watch.
  • Keep the watch away from direct sunlight, as this can cause the metal to dull or deform.
  • Do not use acetone, nail polish remover, or other harsh chemicals on your watch.
