Soaking Method

The first step to getting rid of insect repellant stains on Tussah fabric is to soak item in dish soap and warm water for 30 minutes. This will help to break down the stain and make it easier to lift out. Once the item has been soaked, gently rub stain with a soft cloth or brush to work up a lather.

Washing Machine Method

If the above method does not work, try washing item in the washing machine. Set the machine to delicate cycle and add a mild detergent and one cup of white vinegar. This will help to further break down and remove the stain. After wash cycle is complete, hang the item to air dry.

Chemical Cleaners

In cases where the stain is particularly stubborn, chemical cleaners may be necessary. However, before using any chemical cleaner, it is important to test it on a hidden part of fabric to make sure it won’t damage the material. If it passes test, apply the product according to the instructions on bottle and let it sit for up to 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

Prevention

The best way to deal with insect repellent stains on Tussah fabric is to prevent them in the first place. To avoid these types of stains, apply insect repellent to exposed skin only and keep it away from clothing and other fabrics. Also, make sure to wipe up any spills quickly to minimize the damage.
