If you've accidentally spotted your trench coat with insect repellent, don't panic — right cleaning technique can help you eliminate the stain without damaging the fabric. Here's what you need to do:

  1. First, dab spot with a damp cloth. Doing so can help loosen any particles that may have adhered to the fabric fibers.
  2. Next, mix a few drops of liquid detergent with two cups of warm water in a bowl. Dip an old toothbrush (or any other soft bristle brush) into the solution and gently scrub the stain in a circular motion.
  3. Finally, remove soapy residue by rinsing the coat with cool water. If the stain persists, repeat the process until the spot is gone.

In addition to these steps, it's important to air dry the coat after cleaning to prevent any water rings from forming on the fabric. Avoid direct heat sources like a hairdryer or iron — they can cause discoloration of the fabric.

With these simple steps, you can keep your trench coat looking its best and free of any insect repellent stains.
