Things You'll Need

  • Soap
  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Dry cleaning solution
  • Vacuum cleaner

Step 1: Apply Soap

Apply a small amount of soap to the stain and gently rub it in. Use warm water to help loosen the stain, if needed. Allow soap to sit on the fabric for a few minutes before continuing.

Step 2: Blot With Vinegar

Dampen a cloth with vinegar and dab the stained area. Be careful not to rub the fabric too hard, as this could damage it. Blot the fabric until the stain has been removed.

Step 3: Rinse

Rinse the fabric with warm water and remove any remaining soap or vinegar residue. Be sure to rinse thoroughly so fabric doesn't become discolored.

Step 4: Apply Dry Cleaning Solution

If the stain persists, apply a small amount of dry cleaning solution to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Blot the fabric with a cloth or sponge to remove stain.

Step 5: Vacuum

Once stain has been removed, use a vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining debris or residue. This will help prevent the stain from returning.

Tips

  • Always test a small hidden area of the fabric before using any product or cleaning solution.
  • Be sure to follow the instructions on the product’s label.
  • Have the garment professionally cleaned if the stain persists.
