Insect repellent can easily stain clothes when accidentally spilt, especially delicate fabrics like taffeta. To prevent this, store your insect repellent in a place that is out of reach of children and pets. But if the stains have already occurred, here are some methods to follow:

  • The first step is to quickly dab area with a paper towel, removing as much repellent as possible.
  • Next take a mix of warm water and detergent and blot area. Do this method for about 10 minutes.
  • If the repellent does not come off easily, you can add rubbing alcohol to the mix and start blotting again.
  • Once the stain has been removed, rinse with lukewarm water. You can also add a few drops of white vinegar to the water to fade the stain.
  • Finally, press the fabric gently with a dry cloth to take out the excess water.

These steps should help remove any insect repellent stains from your taffeta fabric. If the stains still remain, it is best to take the fabric to a professional cleaner as they possess specialised skills and treatments to take off even toughest of stains.
