If you discover an insect repellent stain on your sweater while it is still wet, blot it immediately with a dry cloth or paper towel. Keep blotting until no more liquid comes off the sweater. Do not scrub or rub the stain, as this can cause the stain to spread.
If stain has had a chance to set in, then you’ll need to take additional steps. First, rinse the affected area with cold water. Then, make a paste using either liquid dish soap or white vinegar and baking soda. Rub the paste onto stained area and let sit for five to 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the garment in cold water once again.
If the stain still persists even after attempting the above methods, then it’s best to take the garment to a professional dry cleaner for further assistance. A trained dry cleaner can help ensure that stain is completely removed without causing any further damage.
