Start by pre-treating the stain with a gentle laundry detergent or a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water. Use a soft brush to dab at the stain gently and then let it sit for 15 minutes.
After the pre-treatment has soaked into the fabric, fill a basin with warm water and add a capful of gentle laundry detergent. Submerge the stockings in the soapy water and let them soak for 20 minutes.
Drain the soapy water and rinse the stockings thoroughly in cold water. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 1-3.
Once the stain is gone, allow your stockings to air dry naturally. Never put stockings in the dryer, as this can cause shrinkage, damage the fabric and set any remaining stains.
Following the steps outlined above, you can quickly and easily remove insect repellent stains from your stockings. Remember to always pre-treat, soak, rinse and air dry for the best results.
