Start out by holding the stained area of the fabric in hot water for a few minutes to loosen insect repellent. Once the stain has loosened up, blot the area with a clean cloth and then brush it with an old toothbrush to lift the stain.
Mix two parts of laundry detergent with one part white vinegar and one part baking soda. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and shake it up to make sure ingredients are completely blended.
Spray cleaning solution onto the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, scrub the stain with the old toothbrush and rinse the area with cold water.
Once the cleaning solution has been applied and the stain is removed, wash the spandex in cold water using regular laundry detergent. Be sure to read the instructions on the detergent bottle.
With a few simple steps and a little bit of patience, you can effectively remove insect repellent stains from your spandex clothing. Just remember to always test any cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the fabric to avoid unintentional damage.
