Is your favorite pair of socks covered in stubborn insect repellent stains? Don’t fret – here are some steps you can take to get your socks looking streak-free and spotless again!
First, you’ll want to pre-treat stains before attempting any washing. Try using a stain remover or a laundry detergent specifically designed to treat tough stains. Allow the pre-treatment to sit on the affected areas for at least 10 minutes before moving on to the next step.
The next step is to fill a sink or small bowl with warm water and let socks soak. This will help to loosen up the fabric and make it easier to remove the stains. You can also add a mild shampoo or detergent to the warm water.
Using an old toothbrush, gently scrub the stained areas for a few minutes. Be sure to pay special attention to any particularly tough stains, as these may require additional scrubbing. When finished, rinse the socks in cold water.
Once all the stains have been treated, put the socks through a regular cycle in washing machine. Use the same type of detergent and settings that you would normally use when washing colored fabrics. Hang the socks up to dry once they have been washed.
After the socks have been washed and dried, check to see if any of the stains remain. If so, repeat steps 1-4 until all the stains have been removed. Then you can get back to enjoying your favorite pair of socks!
