Whether you’ve just returned from a camping trip or simply gotten a bit too close to a bug zapper, the last thing you want is for insect repellent stains to mar the appearance of your sleepwear. Here are seven strategies that you can employ to get rid of these stains:

  • Using Detergent: If your sleepwear is made from all-natural fabrics, such as cotton, then a quality detergent should do the trick in removing most stains. Simply launder your sleepwear using a mild detergent and the warmest water temperature allowed by the fabric label.
  • Vinegar: To ensure the stain has been completely removed, add 1 cup of vinegar to the wash cycle.
  • Baking Soda: Make a paste with baking soda and a few drops of water then apply it directly onto the stained area. Let it sit for several minutes before rinsing off with cold water.
  • Lemon Juice: Lemon juice can help remove stubborn insect repellent stains from your sleepwear. Apply a small amount of lemon juice directly onto stain, let it stand for about 10 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.
  • Dish Soap: For more difficult stains, use a few drops of dish soap on the stained area and gently rub with a soft cloth or brush. This should help break up the stain and make it easier to remove.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide: Start by adding a capful of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to a bucket of warm water. Immerse the clothing in the mixture and allow the staining material to dissolve. After that, rinse sleepwear off with cold water.
  • Rubbing Alcohol: Use a few drops of alcohol on a white cloth and rub it gently on the stained area of the sleepwear. Be sure to check the care instructions of the sleepwear beforehand, as some fabrics may not be able to handle rubbing alcohol.

By using any of the above methods, you should be able to remove insect repellent stains from your sleepwear without compromising its colour or quality.
