Silk, being a delicate fabric, requires special care. An insect repellent could leave stains that are difficult to get rid of and could ruin your favorite outfit. Here is how you can remove insect repellent stains from silk faille:
- Before you start removing the stain, read the care label on the garment for any specific maintenance instructions.
- Carefully blot stained area with absorbent paper towels. Don’t rub the area as this can cause further damage.
- Mix a solution of tepid water and laundry detergent and soak the garment in it for 15 minutes. After that rinse the area thoroughly.
- If the stain persists, mix a teaspoon of white vinegar in half pint of warm water and soak the stained area in it for another 15 minutes.
- If you still see the marks, try using a mild grease-cutting hand dishwashing liquid and warm water gently scrubbing the area. Rinse with clean water afterwards.
- Finally, hang the garment to air dry or place it between two absorbent towels. Don't rub or wring it, as this could cause damage to the fabric.
Remember, with delicate fabrics, prevention is better than cure! Whenever possible, treat the fabric with an insect repellent protector that won't leave stains.
