Ingredients You'll Need

  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ teaspoon mild, non-alkaline detergent (you can also use a mild dishwashing liquid)
  • ⅛ teaspoon white vinegar
  • Clean, absorbent cloth
  • Hydrogen peroxide (optional)

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Gently blot up as much of the stain as possible with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not scrub or rub the fabric together, as this could cause further damage.

Step 2: Make a Solution

In a large bowl, mix together the warm water, detergent, and white vinegar. Make sure that it is evenly combined.

Step 3: Soak the Stain

Gently submerge the stained area of the fabric in the solution and let sit for 10 minutes. Do not allow fabric to soak for any longer than 10 minutes, as this could cause damage to the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse and Blot Dry

Once fabric has soaked for 10 minutes, rinse with cold water and gently blot away excess moisture with a clean, absorbent cloth.

Step 5: Check the Stain

If the stain is still present, pour or spray hydrogen peroxide onto the stain, being cautious not to saturate the fabric. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then rinse with cold water.

Step 6: Let Air Dry

Once fabric has been rinsed thoroughly, allow it to air dry, preferably in a shaded area.
