Before beginning the stain removal process, check your clothing tags to determine whether your garment is machine washable or dry clean only. If clothing tags indicate to dry clean only, then you should take the item to a professional for stains removal.
Spray a pre-treatment product such as oxygen bleaches onto the insect repellent stained area before putting it in washer. Make sure to thoroughly cover the stained area and let product sit for 15 minutes. This gives the cleaner time to break down and penetrate the stain.
Add the clothing item to the washing machine with your favorite laundry detergent. For added protection, you can add table salt to the machine during the wash. Do not add fabric softener or bleach, as this will set in the stain instead of remove it.
Transfer the clothing item to the dryer and allow item to tumble dry on medium heat. Make sure not to over dry garment, as this will also set in the stain.
After drying the clothing item, check the stained area to see if it has been removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps two through five until the stain is removed.
