Removing Insect Repellent Stains from Your Robe

  • Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish soap with one quart of cool water in a clean bucket or container.
  • Dip a soft cloth into the soapy solution and wring it out so it’s barely damp.
  • Gently dab and blot stain until it starts to disappear, then rinse cloth in fresh cool water.
  • Apply a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the area, and let it stand for 1-2 minutes before blotting again with a clean cloth.
  • If any color remains, prepare a solution of ¼ teaspoon of a color-safe bleach mixed with one quart of cool water.
  • Once again, dip a soft cloth into the mixture and ring it out so it’s barely damp. Blot the remaining stain and rinse the cloth.
  • Finally air dry the robe away from direct sunlight.

Additional Tips

  • Always test a small, hidden area of fabric before using a stain remover, especially on darker colors.
  • Avoid using hot water, which can set stains and make them harder to remove.
  • Never pour rubbing alcohol directly onto robe.
  • For heavy-duty stains, consider using a laundry detergent specifically designed to remove oil-based stains.
  • Always check your robes’ labels for special care instructions.
