Removing Dried Insect Repellent Stains

The first step is to take a damp paper towel and gently rub away any dried repellent that may be present. If you don't have a paper towel handy, you can also use an old toothbrush to work away at the stain. Take your time and be careful not to scratch the surface of the pot or pan. If you're having trouble with larger areas, you can try using a mild dish soap.

Using Household Products to Remove Stains

If the insect repellent has soaked into the surface of your pot or pan, try using a vinegar and water solution. Just mix one part vinegar with two parts water in a bowl, dip a cloth in the mixture, and scrub away at the stain until it disappears. You can also use baking soda and a damp cloth to remove the stain. Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the area, add some water, and rub it in a circular motion until the stain is removed.

For Tough Stains, Use Steel Wool

If the above methods aren't cutting it, break out the steel wool! Rub steel wool along the stain using some warm water mixed with dish soap. This may take some elbow grease but should eventually help remove the stain. Once you've gotten the majority of the stain out, rinse the pot or pan with hot water and dry thoroughly.
