Insect repellent is an essential item during your outdoor adventures, but its oily formula can leave stubborn stains on your gear. Don't worry – follow these tips and you'll easily remove pesky insect repellent stains from your poncho!

If you catch the stain early enough, you might be able to pre-treat it and avoid scrubbing altogether. Mix some dish soap and warm water in a spray bottle. Generously spray the area, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then use a soft cloth to gently blot the stain.
If pre-treating didn't do the trick, reach for a toothbrush. Dip it in the soapy mixture and gently scrub the stained area. Be careful not to apply too much pressure so that you don't damage the fabric. Rinse area with a dry cloth.
Now it's time to wash the poncho. Read the label for washing instructions and follow those carefully. Use a detergent safe for the fabric and gentle cycle. Hang the poncho to air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
