Step 1: Know What You’re Working With

When it comes to removing insect repellent stains from a pet bed, it’s important to be aware of the fabric you’re dealing with. Most pet beds are made of a combination of materials, typically at least one synthetic fabric and one natural. Check the tags on your pet bed to make sure you know exactly what each section is made of.

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies

Now that you know what kind of fabric you’re dealing with, you can pick up appropriate cleaner for the job. In most cases, a simple solution of dish soap and water will do the trick. However, if you’re dealing with a stain on a delicate fabric, like silk, you’ll want to grab something a bit milder. Make sure to check your labels before you start cleaning!

Step 3: Test the Solution

Before you start scrubbing away at stain, it’s important to test the solution you’re using on a small, inconspicuous part of the pet bed to make sure it won’t damage the material.Dab a bit of the mixture onto an unnoticeable patch of the pet bed and wait a few minutes to make sure the fabric doesn’t react negatively.

Step 4: Start Cleaning

Once you’ve verified that your solution is safe for the fabric, you can begin cleaning! Dip a soft cloth in the mixture, wring it out, and gently scrub away at the stain. You may need to go over the spot several times to completely remove stain. Once you’re done, let the area air dry – do not put the pet bed in the dryer!

Step 5: Repeat If Necessary

If stain is particularly stubborn, you may need to repeat steps 3 and 4 until it’s completely gone. Be sure to take your time while scrubbing and avoid rubbing too hard, as this could damage the fabric.

Step 6: Enjoy a Fresh Pet Bed!

When you’re done, you should have a pet bed that looks and smells refreshed! Regularly spot-cleaning your pet bed is important for removing dirt and odors, so this is something you should do every few months.
