Step 1: Use Cold Water

Using cold water is one of the most effective ways of eliminating insect repellent stains from a midi dress. As soon as you notice a stain, use a damp cloth to dab cold water onto it. Try not to rub the area, as this may cause the stain to spread further.

Step 2: Soak the Item

Next, fill up a bucket or basin with cold water and add some detergent. Put the affected area of midi dress into the water, ensuring that it is fully submerged. Let the dress soak for at least an hour or two – the longer the better.

Step 3: Use Stain Remover

Once the item has been soaked, it’s time to apply a specialised stain remover. As insect repellent contains a high amount of oil, it’s recommended to use products which contain enzymes such as borax or dishwashing liquid. Dab the stain remover onto the item and leave it for around five minutes before scrubbing gently with a brush.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse the midi dress in cold water and check that the stain has been removed. If the stain remains, repeat steps two, three and four until the stain is gone.
