Steps for Removing an Insect Repellent Stain from a Jacket
- Begin by gently rubbing the stain with a clean cloth and some warm water.
- If stain still remains, try spot-treating it with laundry detergent. Rub detergent into the fabric, then rinse it in cold water and repeat if necessary.
- If this doesn’t work, you can try using white vinegar. Wet the stain and then apply the vinegar directly to it. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes, then rinse in cold water before repeating if necessary.
- If stain is still there, try using a mixture of baking soda and water. Apply the mixture to the stained areas, let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse in cold water.
- If stain still remains, you can try using rubbing alcohol. Dab the alcohol onto the stain and then rinse in cold water. Repeat if necessary.
- Once the stain has been removed, make sure to launder the item according to its care instructions.
Tips for Removing Insect Repellent Stains
- Always test the cleaning solution in a hidden area of the fabric before applying it to the stain to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
- Be sure to follow the instructions on any cleaning product you use.
- If stain persists, it may be best to take the item to a professional dry cleaner.
