Start by vacuuming the hat with the brush attachment. This will help remove any debris or dirt that can interfere with cleaning.
Mix a mild detergent with warm water and stir it until suds form. For stubborn stains, mix a half cup of white vinegar or ammonia with one quart of water.
Using a soft brush, gently scrub the stained area with the cleaning solution. Be careful not to scrub too hard as this may damage the fabric.
Once the stain is removed, rinse the hat with cold water. Don’t forget to rinse out all of the detergent or vinegar so that it doesn’t irritate your skin.
Lay the hat flat to air dry, making sure that it is completely dry before wearing or storing it.
Cleaning insect repellent stains from your hat can be time-consuming, but with the right steps, it can be done quickly and effectively. Make sure to vacuum, create a cleaning solution, and apply it carefully in order to get rid of tough stains safely.
