While the stains can be stubborn and hard to remove, they are not impossible. Check out these tips and tricks for getting rid of insect repellent stains so you can start grilling in no time.
Using a soft brush or rag, gently scrape off any remaining insect repellent particles that may have accumulated on the surface of your grill. Be careful when you’re scraping, as too much pressure can scratch surfaces of your grill.
Once you’ve eliminated any visible portions of the insect repellent, the next step is to wipe down entire grill. This can be done with a damp cloth, soap and water, or vinegar and water. Make sure to use a mild detergent that won't damage the surface of your grill.
If the stain is still present after normal cleaning, you can use steel wool to help buff out any remaining residue. As an added precaution, make sure to wear gloves when handling steel wool and test it on an inconspicuous area of your grill before starting the scrubbing process.
Once you’ve completed the above steps, be sure to rinse the grill with a damp cloth and then dry it off to prevent rust from occurring. Your grill should now be free from any insect repellent stains.
