Cotton poplin is a lightweight, plain weave fabric that takes dye easily, making it a popular option for clothing and home furnishings. Unfortunately, Cotton poplin can also be susceptible to staining from bug sprays and other types of insect repellents. To deal with these types of stains, you’ll need to use specific steps and materials.
Gently blot insect repellent stain with a dry cloth. Don't rub the stain as this could spread the residue further into the fabric.
Mix 1 teaspoon of dish soap with 2 cups cold water in a bowl or bucket. Dip the cloth into the solution and apply it to the insect repellent stain.
Rinse the fabric off with cold water and repeat the process until stain is gone. If needed, make a baking soda paste with white vinegar to spot treat any stubborn stains.
Finally, hang the fabric up to air dry or use a low heat setting on the dryer to ensure your cotton poplin is back to looking its best.
