Step 1: Blot Stain

The first step is to blot the stain with a paper towel in order to soak up as much of the insect repellent as possible. Make sure to blot from the outside of the stain to inside in order to prevent it from spreading further.

Step 2: Mix a Cleaning Solution

Mix ¼ teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with one cup of warm water. This will help to loosen the stain from the fabric so that it can be removed more easily.

Step 3: Apply the Cleaning Solution

Dab the cleaning solution on the stain using a clean cloth or sponge. Take care not to scrub fabric too hard as this could cause further damage. Allow the cleaning solution to sit on the stain for 10-15 minutes in order to give it time to work.

Step 4: Rinse the Fabric

Rinse the fabric with cold water in order to remove any residue. Blot fabric with a clean towel in order to dry it off.

Step 5: Launder the Dress

Place the dress in washing machine on a gentle cycle and use a mild detergent. Hang the dress to air dry once it has been washed.

Conclusion

By following these steps you can easily get rid of pesky insect repellent stains from your favorite cocktail dress. Just make sure to act quickly after spills occur in order to prevent them from setting in.
