The best way to remove insect repellent stains from chambray starts before you even put the garment on. Pretreat the clothing with an enzyme stain remover, worked in with a soft brush. Let it sit for around 30 minutes and then wash it normally with detergent and hot water.

If this method doesn’t get rid of the stain completely, you will need to break out some stronger cleaning solutions. Apply a few drops of rubbing alcohol directly to stain and scrub it in with a soft brush. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with a damp cloth or sponge.

If rubbing alcohol doesn’t work, use a spot remover specifically made for chambray fabric. Apply the remover to the spot and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then, take a clean cloth or towel and dab at the area gently. Do not rub or scrub the fabric as this may damage the delicate fibers.

After treating stain, go ahead and throw the garment in the wash. Do so with like color items and use a detergent designed to keep chambray fabrics looking their best. After the wash cycle is complete, hang the chambray up to dry and enjoy stain-free clothing!
