Use a dry cloth to blot the excess insect repellent stain on belt. Avoid rubbing or applying too much pressure, as this can work the insects repellent further into the fabric.
Create a solution of one part vinegar to four parts water and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. Let the solution soak into belt for about five minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Mix a teaspoon of dish soap with a cup of warm water, then dip a soft brush into the mixture. Gently scrub the stain, being careful not to damage the leather or other material of belt. Rinse with a damp cloth and inspect the progress.
Using a new cloth, blot stain with hydrogen peroxide. You may need to repeat this step several times before the stain is fully removed. Once you are finished, rinse the belt with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry.
Stains from insects repellents can be difficult to remove from delicate materials like leather. With a few easy steps, however, you can safely remove the stain and restore your belt’s original look.
