Before doing anything else, make sure that you blot out any excess insect repellent with a clean cloth or paper towel. Be careful not to rub the stain into the fabric and spread it around. This will help you get rid of a lot of the stain before you start any cleaning efforts.
Mix a few drops of mild detergent or soap in a bowl of lukewarm water. Dip a clean cloth in mixture and dab the stained area gently. You should do this until the stain disappears.
Once you have gotten rid of the insect repellent, rinse the area with clear water. Use a clean cloth to dab the area dry. Repeat the rinsing process until all soapy residue is gone from the fabric.
If the stain persists, you may need to hand wash the garment with a mild detergent. Make sure to follow the care instructions for the fabric as some alpaca garments are sensitive to certain cleaning chemicals and should be washed by hand with a gentle detergent.
Once you have finished the laundering process, hang the clothing to air dry or hang dry it. Do not put the garment in the dryer as this may damage the fabric.
With the right steps, you can easily clean insect repellent stains out of your alpaca clothes. Remember to always be gentle when cleaning delicate fabrics, and make sure you check the care instructions for specific garment before starting the cleaning process.
