When dealing with insect repellent stains, quicker you act, the better. As soon as you notice the stain, turn the garment inside out and rinse the stained area with cold water. If stain persists, spray it lightly with a mild liquid detergent, then use a washcloth to gently work the detergent into the fabric using a circular motion. Rinse the detergent off with cold water, and wash garment in a cycle containing warm water.
If the stain is not coming out, allow garment to soak in a solution of cold water and liquid detergent for around 30 minutes before washing. To achieve an even greater cleaning result, pre-treat the stain with a cleaning stain remover before washing. If all else fails, consult the garment’s care label for further instructions.
