Try to gather all supplies before beginning stain removal process. For most insect repellent staining, you'll need:
It is important to treat an insect repellent stain as soon as possible; the longer it sits, harder it will be to remove. Use a soft cloth to dab up extra stains, and then rinse with water. If the spot is on clothes or fabric, use a detergent and cold water to rinse.
Mix one part white vinegar and two parts water in a bowl and stir until the vinegar is fully dissolved. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently rub the stained area. Rinse treated area with cool water and check again. Repeat steps until the stain is gone.
For clothing and fabric, mix together a tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent with a cup of warm water and stir until the detergent has completely dissolved. Use a soft cloth to apply the mixture to the stained area and lightly rub fabric. Once the stain has faded, rinse the spot with cold water.
When it comes to removing insect repellent stains, prevention is key. Try to keep repellent away from clothing or other fabrics as much as possible. Also, many types of insect repellent contain oil, so consider pre-treating the stained area with a degreasing agent before attempting to remove the stain.
