What to Do Before Treating Stain:

  • Check the Tussah's garment care label for specific instructions.
  • If a dry clean only, contact a professional cleaner for assistance.

What You'll Need:

  • Sodium carbonate powder (washing soda)
  • White vinegar
  • Laundry detergent
  • Oxygen-based bleach
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Toothbrush
  • Paper towels

Steps to Clean the Stain:

  1. Mix one part sodium carbonate powder with four parts warm water until it dissolves. Apply solution directly to the stain.
  2. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes until it dries.
  3. Mix a solution of one part white vinegar and four parts warm water. Blot the stain with the solution and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix a solution of one tablespoon of laundry detergent, one tablespoon of oxygen-based bleach and four cups of warm water. Soak the stain in this mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the stain from the solution and use a soft bristle brush and a toothbrush to work the mixture into the fabric.
  6. Rinse the stain with warm water until the stain is gone.
  7. If any stain remains, repeat steps 1-5.
  8. Pat the fabric dry with paper towels or air-dry.
