Whether it was an accident or intentional, ink stains can be a nuisance to remove from clothing. But, no need to worry! Here are some simple tips and tricks to get rid of those pesky ink stains.
First, mix one part dish soap and one part rubbing alcohol together. Then, using a clean white cloth, dab mixture onto the stain. You want to be gentle so as not to spread the ink. Once you’ve fully covered the area, let the mixture sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Hairspray can also be used to remove ink stains. Spray the hairspray directly onto the stain and gently rub the area with a damp cloth. Continue this process until the stain lifts, then rinse with cool water. Be careful not to rub too hard so that you don’t damage the fabric.
For this method, first make a paste with equal parts baking soda and white vinegar. Apply the paste on top of stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then, rinse with cool water and repeat as necessary. The combination of the two ingredients will help break down the ink and lift it from the fabric.
If all else fails, you can always try a commercial stain remover. Look for one that specifically states that it removes ink stains. Then, follow the instructions on the packaging. Keep in mind that some commercial stain removers can be harsh and could damage the fabric, so test a small area first.
This method may seem a bit odd, but it works! Place the stained t-shirt in the freezer overnight. The cold temperature will help stiffen up the ink, making it easier to remove from fabric. When ready, simply scrape the dried ink off with a butter knife or other dull object.
There you have it! Ink stains don’t stand a chance against these easy tips. Just remember to be patient and take your time with each step, as it may take several attempts to completely remove the stain.
