Removing Ink Stains from Light-Colored Fabrics

If your traditional dress is made of light-colored fabric, start by spraying some hairspray onto the stained area and allowing it to sit for several minutes. Gently rub the hairspray into the fabric, and then rinse with cold water. To finish, dab the stain with a cloth towel until it is gone.

Removing Ink Stains from Dark-Colored Fabrics

For dark-colored fabrics, try rubbing some rubbing alcohol directly onto stained area. Allow the alcohol to sit for a few minutes, and then rinse with cold water. For stubborn stains, you may need to repeat this process two or three times.

Removing Ink Stains from Leather

If your traditional dress has leather trim, you will need to take special care when removing ink stains. Start by dabbing the stain with a paper towel soaked in a mixture of warm water and dishwashing detergent. Gently rub the stain in a circular motion, and blot until the stain is gone. Finally, wipe the area with a damp cloth to rinse.

Tips for Cleaning Ink Stains

  • Be sure to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of traditional dress first to make sure it won’t cause discoloration.
  • Never use bleach to clean ink stains on traditional dress. Bleach can cause irreversible damage to various types of fabrics.
  • If you don’t have hairspray or rubbing alcohol at home, you can also try using a mild laundry detergent instead.
