Remove Ink Stains Easily With These Cleaning Tips

If you have ever had the misfortune of spilling a pen on your favorite pair of tights, you know the panic that ensues at the thought of having to clean up the mess. Fear not — cleaning ink stains from tights is not as difficult as it may seem.

What You'll Need:

  • Cold water
  • Dish soap
  • Non-gel toothpaste
  • Bowl
  • Cloth or sponge

Step By Step Guide to Cleaning Ink Stains

  1. Rinse the affected area with cold water. Do this immediately to remove as much of ink as possible.
  2. Fill a bowl with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. Soak the stained area in the soapy water for 15 minutes.
  3. Dab a small amount of non-gel toothpaste to the stain. Gently rub the toothbrush into fabric of tights.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water and gently wipe away the residue from the toothpaste.
  5. Re-soak the stain in bowl of soapy water for an additional 15 minutes.
  6. Rinse with cold water and allow to air dry.

Tips & Tricks

  • For stubborn stains, repeat the steps 1-6.
  • Avoid using hot water as this can cause the ink to set in and make the stain more difficult to remove.
  • Don't use bleach or harsh chemicals as these can damage the fabric of the tights.
  • Do not place tights in drier until you are sure that the ink stain has been completely removed.
