Whether it was pen, fountain pen, or permanent marker, ink stains require a delicate approach. Using too harsh of chemicals can damage delicate fabrics, so always test any cleaning solutions on a hidden area before getting started. Here are some steps to help you remove ink stains from your swimwear:

  1. First, rinse stain with cold water.
  2. Create a paste made out of equal parts water and liquid dish soap.
  3. Rub paste gently onto the stained area.
  4. Using a clean white cloth, blot the stain.
  5. If the stain persists, mix one teaspoon of ammonia with one cup of lukewarm water.
  6. Soak a white cloth in solution and apply it to stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes.
  7. Rinse with cold water.
  8. Repeat as needed until the stain fades.
  9. To prevent further damage, line dry or dry with cool air only.

If stain remains after trying these methods, bring your swimsuit to a professional cleaner. With luck and a lot of patience, your bathing suit will be back to its original glory!
