How to Get Ink Stains Out of Sweaters in Just a Few Steps

What You Need

  • Ethanol (rubbing alcohol)
  • Cotton swabs
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Soap flakes or bar soap
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Talcum powder
  • A toothbrush or scrub brush
  • A clean cloth

Steps to Follow

  1. Soak a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently rub the ink stain. If the stain doesn’t go away, repeat step until it does.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent with two cups of warm water and submerge the garment for about 15 minutes.
  3. Mix one tablespoon of vinegar with one cup of warm water and start rubbing it on stain with a toothbrush or scrub brush. This should help remove the ink stain.
  4. Mix a little soap flakes or a small piece of bar soap with two cups of warm water. Rub the mixture onto the stain with a toothbrush or scrub brush. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
  5. Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one cup of warm water and apply it to stain with a toothbrush or scrub brush. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
  6. Mix one tablespoon of salt with two cups of warm water and apply it to the stain. Wait 15 minutes before rinsing it out. Repeat as necessary.
  7. Sprinkle some talcum powder on the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Gently rub it off with a wet cloth and rinse the area.
