Remove Fresh Ink Stains

If you've recently acquired an ink stain on your sleep pants, your best bet is to use rubbing alcohol. Start by laying the item flat on a clean surface. Dip a cotton ball in some rubbing alcohol and dab the stained area gently. Do not rub or scrub, as this may spread the stain even more and make it harder to remove.

Once the stain starts to lift, apply a small amount of detergent directly to the spot and leave it to sit for a few minutes. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to dab at the stain until it comes off completely. Rinse the area with cold water and wash the pants as directed in the care label.

Remove Set-in Ink Stains

For ink stains that have already set in, start by soaking the pants in a lukewarm solution of warm water and a liquid laundry detergent for about 10 minutes. Once soak is complete, rub the area with a soft brush or sponge and rinse it out with cold water. If the stain persists, you may need to take a more aggressive approach.

Mix a cup of white vinegar with a cup of cold water, and apply it to the stain with a sponge or cloth. Leave it to sit for up to 15 minutes, then rinse in cold water. Repeat this process until the stain has disappeared. If it still isn't coming off, try using a pre-soaking product like OxiClean. Soak your pants in the mixture following the instructions on the packaging. Rinse and then launder your items as normal.

Preventing Ink Stains

The best way to avoid dealing with ink stains is to take preventive measures. Try to keep writing tools away from your sleepwear, as ink can transfer easily from pens and pencils. Be careful when handling newspapers and magazines as well, as these can easily rub off onto your clothing.

You should also check clothing labels before purchasing and aim to avoid materials that are prone to staining, such as delicate silks and rayon. Finally, always follow care label instructions to ensure your items stay looking newer for longer.
