The first step to getting rid of ink stains is to act fast. If the ink is still wet, try to blot stain using a clean, dry cloth. Don’t rub the stain, as this could just spread the ink further into fabric. If possible, take the skirt outside, hold the stained area over a bucket or sink, and blast fabric with cold water from the hose. This will help to remove most of the ink from the skirt.
Once you’ve blotted up as much of the ink as you can, it’s time to move on to next step. Fill a bucket or sink with warm water and add 1/4 cup of white vinegar. Soak the skirt in this solution for 20 minutes, and then soak it in cold water for 10 minutes afterwards. The vinegar will help to break down the stain and make it easier to remove.
The next step is to dab the stain with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. Be sure to use a clear, non-acetone remover. Don’t rub or scrub stain, as this could just spread ink further into the fabric. Once you’ve applied the nail polish remover, rinse the area with cold water and then launder the skirt as normal.
If the stain is still present after trying the other methods, it’s time to use the power of baking soda. Make a paste with 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of cold water, and then apply it directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for 20 minutes, and then rinse off with cold water. Launder the skirt as normal, and check to see if the stain is gone.
