When ink stains appear on your favourite articles of clothing, most people feel annoyed and frustrated. Even worse when those stains are on delicate fabrics like silk chiffon. Fear not, however! You can restore the clean and vibrant look of silk chiffon with a few household items and some careful movements.
The Materials
- Dishwashing soap
- White vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide (only if necessary)
- Cotton cotton swabs
- Paper towels
Instructions
- Before you begin any stain removal process, always check the care label on the garment to ensure you don't damage the fabric.
- To start, dab the affected area with a cloth dampened with water. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it can damage material more. For large ink stains, you may want to repeat this step several times.
- Mix a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap with a cup of cold water and lightly dab solution onto the stain. Let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- If the stain still remains, mix equal parts of white vinegar and cold water and pour the solution onto the stained area. Let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping away with a damp cloth.
- If the stain is still present, you may use hydrogen peroxide and cotton swabs. Dip swab into the hydrogen peroxide and blot the stain. Repeat this step until the stain is gone.
- Once all traces of the stain is gone, rinse the fabric again with cold water and let it air dry on a paper towel.
Conclusion
Cleaning ink stains off silk chiffon doesn't have to be difficult. With a few household items and a bit of patience, you can restore the shine of your garment in no time.
